Burnt biscuits cause airport evacuation

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Burning biscuits triggered an evacuation Wednesday morning at Connecticut's Bradley International Airport, an airport spokesman said.

Flashing lights, a siren and a recorded notice to leave a prompted the evacuation of the airport, which serves Hartford, Conn., and Springfield, Mass., spokesman John Wallace said.

Airport staff quickly observed the alarm was prompted by smoke from burning biscuits in an airport restaurant, the Hartford Courant reported Wednesday.

The evacuation was stopped before everyone left the facility. The smoke did not affect airport operations, Wallace said, joking, "If you have any friends flying out of Bradley, tell them not to eat the biscuits."
