Hoffa's whereabouts remain a mystery

ROSEVILLE, Mich., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Former Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa is still missing after test results on soil from beneath a shed in suburban Detroit turned up no sign of human remains.

Police in Roseville, Mich., said in a release Tuesday a soil sample report from Michigan State University showed no signs of human decomposition, the Detroit Free Press reported.

"As a result of these tests, the Roseville Police Department will be concluding their investigation into the possible interment of a human body upon the property," department said in a release.

Samples of mud and clay were taken Friday from underneath concrete in the yard of a Roseville home after a man told police a previous owner had been up all night pouring concrete the day Hoffa disappeared from a restaurant parking lot in Oakland County in 1975.

Police said, however, the person the tipster referred to didn't own the home until three years after the former union leader vanished.

The Detroit News noted the search was the latest in a string of investigations into Hoffa's disappearance. In 2006, the FBI dug up a Milford Township horse farm and destroyed a barn looking for Hoffa's remains.
