New Orleans woman kills husband by mistake

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A New Orleans woman mistook her husband for a burglar Monday and shot him dead, police said.

The dead man was identified as Charles Williams, 57, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported. He was shot once in the chest about 11 a.m.

The newspaper said police did not arrest the wife, whose name was not reported.

Prosecutors were expected to review the shooting, police said in a release.

Williams' daughter told the newspaper the family was too upset to discuss the shooting.
