Police investigating death after 911 call

DALLAS, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Dallas police launched an investigation into the death of a woman who was found slain in her home two days after calling 911.

Deanna Cook's family found her body in the bathtub Sunday, with water throughout the house, ABC News reported. Two days earlier, the woman had called 911 screaming for help and calling her ex-husband, Delvecchio Patrick, out by name, a source, whose name wasn't reported, told WFAA-TV, Dallas.

Dallas police officers went to the home Friday and did a perimeter check but when no one answered the door they left, Cook's sister, Karletha Gundy told ABC News.

"They have not told us anything about that call. They're trying to find a way to cover their tails. Some kind of disciplinary action should be done," Gundy said. "I don't care how many times she has called and you get there and everything is fine. This lady is screaming for her life."

Gundy said Cook had previously made 911 calls against Patrick because there was a history of a troubled relationship. Police arrested Patrick and charged him with murder, ABC News reported.
