Missing boy's stepmom called a suspect

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- The stepmother of a boy missing in Oregon since 2010 has been named a prime suspect in his disappearance, court records say.

In court documents released Tuesday, Multnomah County, Ore., Circuit Judge Henry Kantor named Terri Moulton Horman, the stepmother, the prime suspect in the missing-persons case of Kyron Horman.

Kyron was 7 and Terri Horman was the last known person to be seen with him when he disappeared from a school science fair, KOIN-TV said Wednesday.

Until the release of court documents, Terri Horman was considered a "person of interest" by law enforcement officials, the television station said.

The documents are part of a civil suit against Terri Horman, filed June 1 by Kyron's mother, Desiree Young, demanding $10 million in damages and requesting Terri Horman tells everything she knows about the boy's disappearance.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said in a statement there is no new information in their investigation.

"The civil case is a process independent of the active, ongoing criminal investigation being conducted" by the Sheriff's Office, the statement said.
