Most of the passengers were transferred from the Baranof Wind to the Holland America cruise ship Volendam and others were taken aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Anacapa and a boat from the National Park Service.

The Coast Guard said in a written statement there was no report of pollution in the bay's waters as a result of the maritime mishap and arrangements were being made to tow the Baranof Winds to Sitka.
