Body found on N.C. road still unidentified

FRISCO, N.C., July 15 (UPI) -- A body was found this weekend along a road in North Carolina where authorities have been looking for a missing Ohio woman, authorities said.

Dare County Sheriff Dough Doughtie told reporters at the scene it was too early to tell if the remains discovered by a passerby Saturday were those of Lynn Jackenheimer, a 33-year-old Ashland woman who disappeared while on vacation in the area over the July Fourth holiday.

Jackenheimer was in the Outer Banks with her boyfriend, Nate Summerfield, who apparently skipped town shortly after returning to Ashland without Jackenheimer, the WEWS-TV, Cleveland, said.

Doughtie said the body was found at an intersection along Highway 12 in the town of Frisco by a motorist who saw what appeared to be a bag discarded about 50 yards from some homes. The sheriff said the state of the remains made them impossible to identify at the scene.

WEWS said the body was transported to Greenville early Sunday for examination by a state pathologist.
