Suspect arrested in NYC triple slayings

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y., June 23 (UPI) -- A 30-year-old man was arrested Saturday in the execution-style slayings of three men near Columbia University, the New York Post reported.

Roberto Nunez is suspected in the June 7 shooting deaths of Luis Catalan, 25, Heriberto Suazo, 26, and Amaury Rodriguez, 30, three reputed Manhattan drug dealers whose bodies were found in a 2009 BMW, the newspaper said.

Nunez was taken into custody by city police and U.S. marshals during a raid at his brother's home in the Bronx, sources told the Post.

Police said they believe the victims were marijuana dealers who may have been killed for robbing rival drug dealers.

"Detectives assigned to this case did a masterful job, relentlessly working it to apprehend a suspect who initially appeared so calm, collected, and out of reach." Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said.
