GROVE CITY, Ohio, June 12 (UPI) -- An Grove City, Ohio, man allegedly stabbed his ex-wife to death and then had his 13-year-old son call 911, police said.
"My dad just killed my mom … . She's laying in the grass in front of our apartment," the boy told the dispatcher Monday morning as his 4-year-old sister wailed in the background.
He then handed the phone to his father, who calmly told the dispatcher: "We can discuss all the details when you get here."
Jeremy Roberts allegedly stabbed his ex-wife Candice Roberts to death with a large kitchen knife and left her body in the front yard, covered by a sheet, The Columbus Dispatch reported. She had come by to quickly pick up their children, and she had left her car running.
Records show the two were married for 14 years before divorcing in 2010. They had another child, a 16-year-old daughter, who was not in the home at the time of the call.
Before police came to arrest Roberts, he can be heard on the recording saying goodbye to his children. "I love you guys," he told them. "One more hug. I love you guys."
