SAN GABRIEL, Calif., June 11 (UPI) -- U.S. Commerce Secretary John Bryson, accused of causing separate car crashes in California, "suffered a seizure," a department spokeswoman said Monday.

It was not immediately known whether the seizure caused the crashes or if a collision resulted in the seizure, The Washington Post reported.

"Secretary Bryson was involved in a traffic accident in Los Angeles over the weekend. He suffered a seizure," spokeswoman Jennifer Friedman said. "He was taken to the hospital for examination and remained overnight for observation. He was released and has returned to Washington. The investigation is ongoing."

Bryson was cited for felony hit-and-run Saturday after his car hit another vehicle twice in San Gabriel and struck a second vehicle in nearby Rosemead. Police found Bryson unconscious in his car and took him to an area hospital.

No serious injuries were reported in the accidents.

Lt. Ariel Duran of the San Gabriel police said the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office will decide whether to prosecute Bryson after a review of toxicology and medical tests and the findings of a police investigation, the post said.

A sheriff's department statement said a preliminary investigation showed no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved and that "all parties" were cooperating with law enforcement authorities.

Bryson, 68, a former chairman of Edison International, was appointed commerce secretary in October 2011.

Ministry official says Mubarak in coma

CAIRO, June 11 (UPI) -- Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, recently sentenced to life in prison, was in a coma Monday in a Cairo prison hospital, an official said.

"Mubarak entered today into full coma. His two sons Gamal and Alaa submitted a request to the prison authority to move beside him and it has been accepted," Interior Ministry spokesman Alaa Mahmoud said. "His health has been deteriorating since the verdict, with high blood pressure, problems breathing, and irregular heartbeat."

The sons are also prison, facing insider trading charges.

Mubarak, 84, was sentenced June 2 for his complicity in the killing of protesters in last year's Egyptian uprising.

His lawyer, Fareed El Deeb, said the former leader is in a "very critical" condition, CNN reported.

"I visited him on Saturday and he fell in and out of consciousness three times. He has water concentrated around the heart, which can develop into a heart attack or brain blood clot and would require a rescue operation within 60 minutes," El Deeb said.

Mubarak has been in the Torah prison hospital since he was sentenced.

PM Cameron leaves daughter behind at pub

CADSDEN, England, June 11 (UPI) -- British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife "were distraught" after discovering they had left their 8-year-old daughter at a pub, his office said.

Officials with the prime minister's staff said Cameron's daughter, Nancy, was left alone at The Plough in Cadsden for about 15 minutes after the family had lunch, The Sun reported Monday.

"The PM and [his wife] Samantha were distraught when they realized Nancy wasn't with them," Cameron's office said in a statement. "Thankfully when they phoned the pub, she was there safe and well. The PM went down straight away to get her."

The Camerons and their three children were having lunch Sunday with two other couples. When they were leaving, Cameron thought Nancy was in a second vehicle with his wife and other children and his wife thought the girl was with her father, The Sun said.

"You'd have thought someone would have done a headcount or something," a Plough source told The Sun. "Pub staff found their daughter in the toilet and didn't know what to do. It's not like you can look up David Cameron in the phone book and then ring to say, 'You've left your daughter behind.'"
