BOSTON, June 9 (UPI) -- Federal prosecutors want Catherine Greig, who spent 16 years on the lam with Boston mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger, to spend 10 years in prison.

Greig, 61, pleaded guilty in March to three counts, harboring her boyfriend, conspiracy to commit identity theft and identity theft, and is scheduled for sentencing Tuesday.

The U.S. Attorney's Office filed a sentencing recommendation Friday.

"This is no garden variety harboring case," First Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack W. Pirozzolo said. "It is the most extreme case of harboring this district has seen. For over 16 years, Greig conspired to, and did, protect Bulger -- alleged to be one of the most dangerous and violent criminals in the history of this district -- from being discovered by law enforcement."

Steve Davis, whose sister was allegedly killed by Bulger, told the Boston Herald anything less than a decade for Greig "would be corrupt." Investigators say Debra Davis, 26, was strangled in 1981 because she was planning to leave Bulger's partner.

"My sentence would be give me back what you took from me. You took 16 years. Give her 16 years," Davis said, urging a term equal to the time Bulger and Greig spent on the run.

The couple were arrested last year in Santa Monica, Calif., where they had been living for years.
