The three pleaded not guilty before a judge in Albany. The Doughertys, already sentenced to long prison terms in Colorado, face 25 years to life if convicted of all charges in Georgia.

"This was basically a crime spree that went from Florida through Georgia and out to Colorado and it is important, it's an important case for the people here and we've also got a bank that was robbed we've got police officers who were shot at and so it's a case that needs federal attention and we have federal interest in it so we are going to move forward with it," said Michael Moore, the U.S. attorney for Middle Georgia.

The three face charges of shooting at a Florida police officer Aug. 2, 2011. Ryan Dougherty had been sentenced the day before to probation and ordered to wear an ankle monitor for sending harmful information to a juvenile.
