PRESCOTT, Ariz., May 9 (UPI) -- A fire gutted a bar, a restaurant and a food store on Whiskey Row, a historic block in Prescott, Ariz., authorities said.
Investigators were trying to determine Wednesday what caused the blaze and where it started, The Arizona Republic reported. The fire, first reported late Tuesday afternoon, caused no deaths or injuries.
The Bird Cage Saloon, Pearl's Place Cafe and the Prescott Food Store were all totally destroyed, investigators said. Lt. Andy Reinhardt of the Prescott Police Department said property damage is expected to run to millions of dollars.
Prescott, a city of almost 40,000, 50 miles southwest of Flagstaff and 100 miles north of Phoenix, served twice as capital of the Arizona Territory. Whiskey Row burned down in 1900 in a fire started at a blacksmith's shop and was rebuilt in brick.
