NYC police arrest 10 in Occupy protest

NEW YORK, March 25 (UPI) -- New York police arrested 10 people during an Occupy Wall Street march and protest against alleged police brutality a week earlier, officials said.

An estimated 300 people gathered in Zuccotti Park Saturday and started a march as police on foot and riding scooters followed them, The New York Times reported.

The protesters varied from their announced route several times apparently to confuse police, but ended up in Union Square Park, where demonstrators have been camping out for a week, the Times said.

The group chanted and carried placards denouncing police behavior last Saturday when more than 70 people were arrested at Zuccotti Park, which was declared off-limits to camping protesters.

The Occupy movement denouncing corporate greed and economic disparity began in mid-September in New York and went global for several months.
