MANCHESTER, N.H., March 22 (UPI) -- A New Hampshire man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a police officer, police said.

Myles Webster, 22, allegedly shot a police officer multiple times Wednesday evening in Manchester, WMUR-TV, Manchester, N.H., reported.

Police have not yet released details on what occurred before the shooting or the wounded officer's identity.

The officer was listed in serious but stable condition after undergoing surgery at Catholic Medical Center, about three blocks away from the scene of the shooting, officials said.

Webster has had other run-ins with the law, police said, including arrests for armed robbery in 2008 and attempting to buy illegal guns and unlawful possession of a firearm in 2010.
