BALTIMORE, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A 17-year-old Baltimore girl was in critical condition Thursday after being severely burned by a grill explosion, officials said.

Two other teens, a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, were also injured in the fire Wednesday night, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The grill reportedly exploded after someone poured gasoline over burning embers.

"The fire wasn't burning quite well enough," said Baltimore County Fire Capt. Ross Cooke. "What they did was something stupid — they put gasoline on the fire. It exploded. They were good kids out having a good time and they did something crazy."

All three teens were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment.
