"I am so ready to see my babies. But I don't want them to see me this way," Grice, 29, told the Crestview (Ala.) News Bulletin. Grice spoke by telephone from the South Alabama Medical Center's burn unit, where she is getting treatment.

"I talked to them on the phone and they know that their mama was in an accident and that I won't be there for a while," she said, "but my heart is just full for my three babies. I didn't even get to start my Christmas shopping for them."

Grice was undergoing routine surgery at the Crestview Surgery Center to have three cysts removed from her head for biopsy, the newspaper said. A fire broke out, causing second-degree burns to her face and neck.

A medical staff member said Grice was fitted with an oxygen mask and that the surgeon was using a cauterization tool to stop bleeding when the fire broke out.
