Mother held in Mo. death of baby boy

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- The mother of a Missouri 13-month-old boy whose body was found in a wooded area blocks from her house has been arrested in his death, authorities said.

Jail officials confirm Tyler Dasher's mother, Shelby A. Dasher, 20, was taken into custody early Wednesday and was being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

St. Louis County police called the baby's death a homicide but did not release details on the arrest or say whether the suspect was a man or woman, the Post-Dispatch said.

Officials have not said how Tyler died.

A jail official said Dasher had not been booked. The St. Louis County Justice Center said Dasher is on a 20-hour hold, meaning she could be released if charges aren't brought within that time.

Police said Dasher had told them she put Tyler to bed about 10:30 p.m. Monday and reported him missing about 11 a.m. Tuesday after she overslept. The boy's body was found about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday by people walking a dog at the edge of New St. Marcus Cemetery.
