Reddit pulls controversial "jailbait" page over child porn

NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Social news Web site Reddit says it's taken down its controversial "Jailbait" page after a user posted what appeared to be child pornography.

The section of the Web site is notorious for flouting child-porn laws by allowing the posting of risque images of underage teens, many of which are pilfered from open Facebook pages, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

One so-called "redditor," using the handle "TheContortionist" posted a picture of a girl he claimed was his 14-year-old ex-girlfriend, then later posted another image that, although censored, appeared to show a young girl engaging in oral sex.

A Reddit monitor contacted the FBI and reported the posting.

After several hours Reddit's administrators deleted the post, and one of the section's moderators wrote on the site that child porn "most likely" had been transmitted.

Subsequently, the Jailbait section was taken down.

"This subreddit has been shut down due to threatening the structural integrity of the greater Reddit community," a message on the site said.
