6 teens hurt at South Carolina State Fair

COLUMBIA, S.C., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Six teenagers were treated for injuries after being struck by falling pieces of metal from a ride at the South Carolina State Fair.

State Fair manager Gary Goodman said welding on the Banzi ride came loose Wednesday night, striking the teens, The (Columbia) State reported.

Five of the six injured suffered minor cuts. The sixth person left the fair with a bruised shoulder.

All six were treated at the fair's first aid station and did not require hospitalization.

Goodman said the Banzi ride was closed after the incident and would remain closed pending an inspection.
