Man pleads not guilty in Facebook fight

CARLSBAD, N.M., Oct. 6 (UPI) -- A Texas man has pleaded not guilty to a battery charge after a fight with his estranged wife over a Facebook status update, police said.

Benito Apolinar, 36, of Pecos, Texas, was arrested Monday after police responded to a call of a fight in progress at the woman's Carlsbad, N.M., home, the Carlsbad Current Argus reported Thursday.

Dolores Apolinar told police her husband came to her home to drop off their children, but he was drunk. She would not allow him into her house because she said she feared getting in trouble while on house arrest. The argument between the two allegedly resulted in Benito pulling Dolores' hair and punching her in the face.

Benito said Dolores hit herself in the face then hit in him the eyebrow with her cellphone. He told police he was angry at his wife for not "liking" his Facebook status update about the anniversary of his mother's death.

"That's amazing everyone 'likes' my status but you, you're my wife. You should be the first one to 'like' my status," he allegedly told his wife.
