TRENTON, N.J., Oct. 3 (UPI) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie indicated he will decide soon whether he will enter the Republican presidential race, two Republican donors said.

Top GOP donors -- needed to mobilize quickly to mount a prodigious fundraising campaign on Christie's behalf -- said they haven't heard anything from the governor, ABC News reported Sunday.

"Major donors are teed up, but still no word," one donor said in an e-mail to ABC News.

Christie has indicated he wouldn't run but seems to have had a change of heart in recent days, observers note.

If he jumps in, Christie would have to build a national organization and raise tens of millions of dollars in a few weeks' time because of the upheaval over presidential party preference primaries, with Florida deciding last week to move its primary to Jan. 31 and New Hampshire's GOP chairman has indicated he wouldn't rule out shifting the primary to December.

Besides having to prep on national and international issues if he chooses to run, Christie also would have to raise lost of cash to mount a serious campaign.

But the list of potential donors -- some of whom have been pressuring Christie to run -- will help him somewhat overcome the obstacles.

"It's almost like a cup of soup. Pour in water and voila: a presidential campaign," one donor not affiliated with any campaign told ABC News.
