SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Police say a Utah man allegedly threatened to slit the throat of a passenger on a flight scheduled for Las Vegas after an argument about an armrest and legroom.
David Alan Anderson, 60, was charged with felony counts of having a dangerous weapon on an aircraft and retaliation against a federal law enforcement officer in connection with the incident on Delta Air Lines Flight 2478 Sunday from Salt Lake City, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.
Anderson, in seat 5A, allegedly elbowed the passenger in seat 5B in an attempt to "claim" the armrest between the two before takeoff, then placed his foot on the other passenger's leg.
The passenger told Anderson, "Sir, you are going to have to move over."
Five minutes later Anderson allegedly told the passenger, "If I had a knife, I would slit your throat right now."
Salt Lake police were notified and took Anderson off the plane after discovering a folding knife in his carry-on luggage.
While being transported to the police station Anderson allegedly threatened police officers and an FBI agent, the Tribune reported.
