2 die in Marine helicopter crash

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A U.S. Marine Corps helicopter crashed at Camp Pendleton near San Diego Monday, killing two people on board, military officials said.

A military official said the AH-1 Cobra, assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, went down about 1 p.m. PDT in a training area, KGTV-TV, San Diego, reported.

KNSD-TV, San Diego, reported the crash ignited a brush fire that crews were working to extinguish.

The names of the victims had not been released and the cause of the crash was under investigation.
