Dad kills daughters, self at campground

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- An upstate New York man took his daughters camping without their mothers' permission and then shot the girls and himself, police said.

The bodies of Adam Parcells, 29, of Hilton, N.Y., near Rochester, and Noel Parcells, 10, of Rochester and Mia, 3, of Hilton were discovered Tuesday morning by the owner of Adirondack Camping Village, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported. Investigators say Parcells shot the two girls multiple times Monday night as they slept and then took his own life.

The campground is near Lake George, more than 200 miles east of Rochester.

Mia's mother was separated from Parcells, police said.

Noel's mother called police Friday to report that Parcells had taken her daughter without her consent and called back Monday and Tuesday, Rochester Police Officer Steve Scott said. Mia's mother called the Monroe County Sheriff's Department on Monday and said her daughter had not been returned.

Neither department issued an Amber Alert. Scott said there was no evidence Noel was in danger.
