Marijuana farm cleared in Nevada

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- A marijuana farm on federal land in Nevada held almost 5,000 plants on 4 acres, the U.S. Forest Service says.

Judy Suing, a spokesman for the agency, said 4,685 plants were removed by air from the site on Deer Creek in the Mount Charleston area northwest of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Sun reported. The airlift began about 4 a.m. Wednesday, and the plants were buried elsewhere.

The street value of the crop was estimated at $23.4 million.

The farm included an irrigation system. Investigators said there was evidence of people camping at the site but no one was found and no arrests have been made.
