Some sex abuse charges dropped in Okla.

OKLAHOMA CITY, N.Y., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- A judge has dismissed many of the child sex abuse charges against a former Oklahoma City police sergeant accused of molesting teenagers.

Maurice Martinez, 45, said Tuesday after the hearing that he expects to be acquitted when the case goes to trial, The Oklahoman reported. He remained in custody after the judge dismissed 23 of the 32 sexual abuse charges he faced.

Martinez was charged with molesting four teenage foster sons. Investigators said he was a foster parent for 11 years.

One of the boys testified Monday that he lied about being abused. Defense lawyers say his remaining accusers are lying and that one of the boys uploaded child pornography to Martinez's iPhone.

Martinez, who has resigned from the police department, is still charged with nine counts of sexual abuse and with interfering with a witness, child pornography and child abuse.
