Stolen Rembrandt etching found

ENCINO, Calif., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- "The Judgment," a $250,000 Rembrandt stolen from a California hotel, was found Tuesday in Encino, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Officials said they received a tip about the possible location of the drawing and have verified its authenticity, KABC-TV, Los Angeles, reported.

No arrests have been made, police said.

The 10-inch-by-6-inch etching, dated circa 1655, was stolen from a private exhibition Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina del Rey.

The theft occurred when a curator was distracted by another person, who indicated an interest in purchasing a work of art, CNN reported.

"When the curator then turned back to the exhibit ... it was gone," sheriff's department spokesman Steve Whitmore said Sunday. "This was well planned and well executed."
