Four dead in Wisconsin wedding party boat crash

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., July 25 (UPI) -- The death toll from a boat collision in a Wisconsin river rose to four after two more bodies were found, authorities said.

The bodies of Luke Pohl, 25, and Matthew Simonson, 28, were recovered from the Chippewa River Sunday morning, Chippewa County Undersheriff Eugene Gutsch told the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press.

Simonson and Matthew Overhulser, 28, found dead earlier, were to be groomsmen in the wedding of Pohl's brother, Leo. The groom and another groomsman, Greg Voight, were treated for injuries and released from an Eau Claire, Wis., hospital.

The bride's father, Robert Romanshek, 56, was arrested after the crash but was later released without charges.

The other boat's driver, Mark Michels, 50, was killed, and his passenger, Carol Oller, 49, was in stable condition Sunday.

After a wedding rehearsal dinner Friday, Romanshek took the young men on a boat ride and the craft collided with Michel's boat at 9:45 p.m., police said.

Gutsch said the sheriff's office has the boats and alcohol is among factors being investigated.

The wedding of Leo Pohl and Maura Romanshek had been scheduled at the Enchanted Barn, a former dairy farm, Saturday.
