DETROIT, June 29 (UPI) -- Two female defendants in a prostitution ring case have been released after a federal judge in Detroit sentenced them to time served.

Miami Companions, one of the country's largest escort services, dispatched prostitutes to hotels and beachfront villas around the world, with Detroit one of its busiest operation until investigators broke up the ring last summer, the newspaper said.

Laurie Carr, wife of Miami Companions co-owner Greg Carr, was sentenced to two days in prison then released for time served.

She had faced up to 20 years in prison, but Tarnow said he considered her cooperation with investigators, her sense of remorse and responsibility, and that she is the main provider and caretaker of a young son.

Greg Carr has been sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Tarnow also sentenced Michelle "Mickey" Matarazzo, 38, the ring's ex-office manager, to one day in prison and freed her for time served.
