NEW YORK, June 15 (UPI) -- Huma Abedin, wife of U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, returned to their New York home early Wednesday from a trip with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Abedin, 35, a Clinton aide and longtime friend, was in the Middle East and Africa as Weiner, D-N.Y., became embroiled in a scandal about salacious photos sent to young women via Twitter. She has made no public statements and has continued to wear her wedding ring, the New York Daily News reported.

At 4:30 a.m., Abedin arrived at an empty house in Queens, the newspaper said. Weiner is said to be undergoing treatment for his sexual obsessions.

Abedin was revealed to be pregnant as the scandal unfolded.

Weiner has so far resisted calls for his resignation, which have come from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., President Obama and other leading Democrats. The Daily News said he is expected to make a decision now that his wife is back.

The New York Post reported Wednesday a poll by the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling showed 60 percent of those surveyed said Weiner should quit and by a 70-8 margin, they have an unfavorable view of him. Other polls have suggested his constituents still support him.
