Baltimore teens are getting a curfew

BALTIMORE, June 15 (UPI) -- Baltimore officials say they will be enforcing a strict curfew, and opening a curfew center for youthful violators.

With incidents like a teenager being stabbed while police tried to disperse a mob of youths at Inner Harbor, city officials are taking greater measures to keep teens safe and off the street at night, Baltimore's WJZ-TV reported Tuesday.

"Children under the age of 17 are not allowed out without an adult after midnight on weekends and after 11 p.m. on weeknights," Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said.

Teens breaking curfew will be taken to the new detention center, which opens Thursday, and be held overnight.
