ARLINGTON, Texas, May 17 (UPI) -- A female Texas teacher has been charged with having sex with five male students, all of them at least 18.

Because the boys were legally adults, Brittni Nicole Colleps, 27, does not face child sex charges, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday. Tiara Richard, a spokeswoman for the Arlington Police Department, said teachers who have sex with students, regardless of age, can be charged with felonies.

Colleps, a mother of three who teaches English at Kennedale High School, is married to a man in the military who is stationed away from the area, the report said. She was charged Monday and placed on leave by the school.

Investigators say the sex began when Colleps and an 18-year-old spent about a week exchanging text messages. He allegedly had sex with her at her home in Arlington on April 26.

The young man told police he and four friends had sex with her on later occasions. In May, he allegedly used his phone to film her having sex with one man while the others were in the room.

School officials said Colleps told them in March she did not intend to return next year.
