The woman's 9-year-old son put an end to the incident by wrestling the gun away from her and running outside with it, investigators said.

No date had been set for arraignment for Gana on a list of charges that could send her to prison for a maximum of 82 years, the Orange County District Attorney's office said in a written statement.

Sheriff's investigators said the incident Sunday afternoon began when Gana fired a shot into a bedroom ceiling. When the teenager and the suspect's 72-year-old husband, Antonio Gana, raced into investigate, she allegedly opened fire on them, police said.

Antonio Gana was killed and the boy, whose name was not released, was wounded in the arm.

The wounded teen called 911 and deputies arrived to place Annamaria Gana under arrest.
