Truck hits parked jetliner in New York

NEW YORK, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- A fuel truck crashed into a stationary Delta Air Lines jet with 111 people aboard at New York's LaGuardia Airport, disabling the plane, officials said.

No one aboard the aircraft -- Flight 2879 -- was injured in the incident Sunday but the driver of the truck was taken to a hospital with head injuries, CNN reported.

A Port Authority spokesman said the driver suffered cuts to his face.

The MD-88 aircraft held 106 passengers and five crew members. It sustained damage to a wing and was taken out of service.

NY 1 News said the plane was scheduled to fly to Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Authorities declined to say how fast the truck was traveling.
