Teenager's pimp gets 14 years

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- An admitted pimp in Milwaukee has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for selling a 14-year-old girl for sex.

Amani Booker, 35, admitted in court that he found the girl working the street last May, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. His lawyer, Brian Mullins, said Booker did not realize the girl was underage and pointed out that she was already involved in prostitution when Booker recruited her.

At Booker's sentencing Friday, John Clevert, chief judge of the district court in Milwaukee, said he wanted to send a warning to other men who might be tempted to follow Booker's example.

"They should know there is a cost, a tremendous cost that must be paid," Clevert said. "You used and abused women and at least one child."

Booker acknowledged he has gone through life so far looking for easy money.

"I have hurt more than myself," he said.
