HESPERIA, Calif., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Authorities say they locked up a Southern California couple for allegedly passing the pot pipe to their 2-year-old son.

Blake Hightower, 24, and Melanie Soliz, 20, were arrested at their home in rural Hesperia by San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies who were apparently tipped off about a video showing the alleged stunt.

"(The video) depicts the child placing the (pipe) up to his mouth and he sucks on it, pulls it away, sucks on it, pulls it away," Deputy Lisa Guerra told the Victorville (Calif.) Daily Press, adding, "the pipe does have some marijuana residue in it."

Soliz, who is seven months pregnant, and Hightower were charged with child cruelty. The youngster was placed in the custody of child protection officials.
