Pair suspected in bank heists in 4 states

STUART, Fla., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- A suspected bank robber being held in Florida and his accomplice may be the same couple wanted in three other states, authorities say.

Martin County sheriff's deputies shot Sarah Gauvin to death Dec. 16 as she and Kevin Cyr fled a robbery at a Chase Bank in Stuart, police told TCPalm.com.

Cyr is charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault on a law officer. He is being held in the Martin County Jail in lieu of $800,000 bail.

On Monday, Stuart Police Sgt. Marty Jacobson said Cyr and Gauvin seem to be implicated in the Nov. 1 robbery of a Citizens Bank in Worcester, Mass.; the Nov. 26 robbery of a US Bank inside a Safeway in Salem, Ore.; and a Dec. 1 robbery at a Wells Fargo Bank in Chubbuck, Idaho.

Jacobson said he was searching the Internet for unsolved bank robberies when he found three news items with surveillance photos that showed Cyr and Gauvin. "It's them. It's their pictures," he said.

Chubbuck police confirmed they have been in contact with Stuart police to determine if Cyr and Gauvin were the same couple.
