Stripper recounts party with Detroit mayor

DETROIT, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A stripper says she danced at a party for former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick with another woman who was later killed, a legal brief says.

Tamika Ruffin gave a sworn deposition to lawyer Norman Yatooma, who is suing Kilpatrick and the city over the drive-by shooting of Tamara Greene in 2003, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Yatooma filed the brief Sunday to persuade U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen to let the case go to trial.

Greene's three children charge the city of Detroit and Kilpatrick blocked the investigation to keep her killers from being found.

Ruffin said she was hired to dance at the 2002 party at the mayoral mansion, where she saw 10 uniformed police officers, cocaine and marijuana. She also said she saw Carlita Kilpatrick, the mayor's wife, attack Greene with a stick for giving her husband a lap dance.

Ruffin said Greene stayed with her briefly afterward and received several threatening phone calls from the mayor's wife.

James Thomas, Kilpatrick's lawyer, said Yatooma's brief failed to present any proof the mayor sabotaged the Greene investigation.

Kilpatrick is serving federal prison time for corruption.
