Clocks go back an hour on Sunday

CHICAGO, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- The modern home is full of clocks, computers, smart phones and other gadgets that can all tell time -- and must be set back an hour on Sunday.

The U.S. Department of Transportation says Daylight Saving Time officially ends this Sunday at 2 a.m.

While states are not required to observe Daylight Saving Time, if they do participate they must follow the starting and ending times mandated by federal law, the Chicago Tribune said.

Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas Islands won't need to turn back their clocks this weekend as they don't observe Daylight Saving Time, National Geographic News says.

Standard time, beginning Sunday, will last until 2 a.m. on March 13.
