Suspected drone attacks kill five

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- A suspected U.S. drone fired missiles Sunday that killed five alleged militants in a hideout in Pakistan's tribal region, intelligence officials said.

Unnamed intelligence officials told CNN two missiles were fired at a militant hideout in the Data Khel area of North Waziristan, one of seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region near the Afghanistan border.

Suspected drone strikes last week killed 29 suspected militants in the region, said the intelligence officials who were not identified because they are not authorized to speak with the media, CNN said.

U.S. officials don't comment on suspected drone attacks but the United States is the only country in the region known to have the remotely operated, missile-firing aircraft, the report said.
