Kraft shooter targeted her victims

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- The suspended employee charged with killing two women at a Kraft Foods plant in Philadelphia targeted co-workers she had quarreled with, police say.

Police Capt. James Clark, head of the homicide unit, said Yvonne Hiller's arguments with the victims and a man who was shot and wounded led to her suspension Thursday evening, the Philadelphia Daily News reported. Clark said she returned to the plant with a .357 Magnum after being escorted off the premises and opened fire in a break room after telling a fourth person to leave.

LaTonya Brown, 36, and Tanya Wilson, 47, both Philadelphia residents, died. Bryant Dalton, 39, remained hospitalized Friday.

Clark said Hiller, 43, who had worked at Kraft for 15 years, had accused the three for years of aiming chemicals at her.

Police said Dave Ciarlante, a mechanic at the plant who lives in suburban Bensalem, may have saved lives. After Hiller allegedly fired at him, and missed, he followed her, using a radio to keep other workers posted on her whereabouts and how to get out.

"I just followed her until the boys in blue came up," Ciarlante told the News.

Hiller surrendered after a lengthy conversation by cellphone with a police corporal she reached by dialing 911. The corporal convinced her to give up.
