Hard landing blows JetBlue plane's tires

SACRAMENTO, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Passengers on a JetBlue flight were forced to evacuate on exit slides after its tires blew out on landing in Sacramento, causing a small fire, officials said.

Some of the 86 passengers aboard JetBlue flight 262 were taken to a hospital but suffered only minor injuries, The Sacramento Bee said Friday.

The Airbus A320 made a hard landing Thursday afternoon at Sacramento International Airport, blowing its tires.

"It was a crazy experience you don't expect on a Thursday," said Stacey Benuzzi, 27, a Long Beach, Calif., teacher en route to Rio Linda, Calif.

A spokesman for JetBlue Airways said all four tires blew and the brakes caught fire on landing. The plane's return flight to Long Beach was canceled but no other flights were delayed, the report said.
