WikiLeaks doc: What if U.S. exports terror?

WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Whistle-blower Web site WikiLeaks Wednesday posted what it says is an internal CIA document addressing the perception that the United States exports terrorism.

The three-page secret report, dated Feb. 2, asks, "What If Foreigners See the United States as an 'Exporter of Terrorism?'" CNN reported Wednesday.

"These sorts of analytic products -- clearly identified as coming from the agency's 'Red Cell' -- are designed to simply provoke thought and present different points of view," CIA spokesman George Little told CNN.

A CIA official whose name was not reported told CNN it appears "this is not a blockbuster paper."

WikiLeaks announced Tuesday via Twitter, "WikiLeaks to release CIA paper tomorrow," but did not specify when.

It was not immediately clear whether the Twitter post was related to documents WikiLeaks dubbed "Afghan War Diary."

The Web site touched off controversy this summer when it posted about 76,000 U.S. documents related to the war in Afghanistan. The group has said it has 15,000 more documents, which it plans to release soon.

The U.S. Defense Department has demanded WikiLeaks return all documents belonging to the Pentagon and delete any traces of them. Afghan officials also criticized the documents' publication.

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates criticized the organization's previous posting of documents, saying it had a negative impact on troops and allies by revealing techniques and procedures.

Julian Assange, WikiLeaks founder and editor, was arrested in absentia last week in Sweden on rape charges but the warrant was lifted less than a day later by chief prosecutor Eva Finne. Assange called the accusations a "smear campaign" but did not say who he thought was behind it.

The attorney for the alleged victims told CNN rumors of Pentagon or CIA involvement in the accusations against Assange were "complete nonsense."
