RIVERSIDE, Calif., July 3 (UPI) -- Police in Hemet, Calif., say they've made an arrest linked to a series of booby-trap and arson attacks on police and an anti-gang task force.
Police served a series of warrants Friday and made at least one arrest, The (Riverside, Calif.) Press-Enterprise reported.
Since Dec. 31, 2009, local Hemet police and the Hemet-San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force have been targeted seven times, the newspaper said.
The attacks have included someone filling the Gang Task Force office with natural gas, placing a tripwire weapon to fire at an officer who opened the office, arson attacks on the Hemet police shooting range and code enforcement vehicles at city hall, and aiming a World War II training rocket at the Hemet police headquarters, authorities said.
Police consider a local motorcycle gang and a white supremacist gang as possible suspects, the Press-Enterprise reported.
Hemet police, the FBI, the Sheriff's Department, the district attorney's office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives have investigated the case, the newspaper said.
