Pa. AG subpoenas critics' Twitter info

PITTSBURGH, May 20 (UPI) -- The Pennsylvania attorney general's office won't say why it subpoenaed Twitter for information on two accounts.

The accounts belong to anonymous blog posters who have tweeted negative comments about Attorney General Tom Corbett and his so-called Bonusgate probe involving the state Legislature.

A spokesman for Corbett told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he was prohibited from discussing grand jury proceedings, but denied the subpoena was aimed at silencing critics.

"I can tell you it has nothing to do with criticizing an elected official," spokesman Kevin Harley said. "It has nothing to do with that."

One of the people who post to the blog in question, CasablancaPA, told the newspaper he was not so confident. "He (Corbett) comments on the grand jury when it's convenient for him and retreats behind the cloak of secrecy when it's not," the anonymous blogger said.

Twitter said it only disclosed information on account holders in limited circumstances.
