Teacher uses killing to explain angles

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 19 (UPI) -- A high school geometry teacher won't be fired for talking about how angles could be used to kill President Barack Obama, Birmingham, Ala., officials said.

"We are going to have a long conversation with him about what's appropriate," Superintendent Phil Hammonds said. "It was extremely poor judgment on his part, and a poor choice of words."

The Corner High School teacher, who was not publicly identified, was teaching about parallel lines and angles when he demonstrated where to stand and take aim if the president were present in the school, Joseph Brown, a senior in the geometry class told The Birmingham (Ala.) News in a story published Wednesday.

U.S. Secret Service officials interviewed the teacher and closed the case after determining there was no credible threat to the president, Special Agent Roy Sexton said.
