WASHINGTON, May 11 (UPI) -- Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden, apparently suffered a mild stroke, hospital officials said Tuesday.

"Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden was admitted this morning (Tuesday) to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del., after having what we believe to be a mild stroke," Dr. Timothy Gardner, medical director of the Center for Heart and Vascular Surgery at Christiana said in a statement released by the White House.

"He is in good spirits and talking with his family at the hospital," Gardner said. "He is fully alert, in stable condition and has full motor and speech skills. We expect him to make a complete recovery."

Biden, 41, recently returned from a tour in Iraq. He had been considered a front-runner to fill his father's U.S. Senate seat until he announced he would not seek the office.
