Bus carrying sports team involved in crash

COLORADO CITY, Ariz., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- A bus carrying Dixie State College's baseball team collided with a snowplow in Arizona, but there were no serious injuries, a coach at the Utah school said.

The accident occurred Sunday near Colorado City, Ariz., while the team was returning from a four-game series in Phoenix.

Five students were treated at a hospital and released. One of them had a forehead laceration, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

The exact number of individuals on board the charter bus was not released.

Trent Platt, an assistant Dixie baseball coach, said the accident on Arizona State Highway 389 occurred after the team bus began following the snowplow in poor road conditions caused by heavy snowfall, the Tribune said.

The driver of the snowplow was forced to stop suddenly after encountering a vehicle that had spun off the road. The bus, unable to stop in time, then crashed into the right side of the plow.
