Alleged recidivist sex offender charged

SEATTLE, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- A registered sex offender in Washington state is again facing charges, thanks to an astute computer repair technician, authorities said Tuesday.

Clyde Dale Loshbaugh, 47, of Seattle, was charged in U.S. District Court with one count of possession of child pornography. He remains behind bars pending a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday, Seattlepi.com reported.

Loshbaugh is a registered sex offender who was assigned the highest level of risk of recidivism, Seattlepi.com said.

The repairman called Seattle police in June after Loshbaugh brought in his computer to get rid of malware. The repairman found child pornography on the machine. Investigators found approximately 2,000 images of pornography that involved children, including 350 photos of known victims of child pornographers, Seattlepi.com said.

"Loshbaugh said that he had gotten them from the Internet approximately 10 years ago 'when it was easier to get that sort of thing.' When questioned further ... Loshbaugh said … his 'tastes run to children,'" court records showed.

Loshbaugh's previous convictions include attempts to have five teens make pornography, molesting a 6-year-old girl and sexually assaulting at least two other girls.

Loshbaugh's treatment providers in prison said he was a high risk to offend again, sex offender registration documents showed.
